That Girl Transformation: Enter Your Winter Arc

If you haven’t heard, we aren’t waiting until the new year to get ahead, hit our goals, and create healthy habits. We’re starting now.

It’s time to enter your winter arc and become THAT GIRL.

What is a Winter Arc?

The winter arc is simple: it’s about using the cold winter months to visualise, reset, and refocus your energy on yourself and your goals. While most people will use the winter months to stay home and hibernate, you can use the next few months to lock in, get ahead, limit distractions, and transform yourself before the new year. Once January 1st comes around you will be well into your routines and habits, whilst everyone else is just getting started.

You Make the Rules

Your winter arc goals can be anything you want to achieve over the next few months. You can nurture all areas of your life from achieving your goals to practicing self-love, learning something new, or creating a new routine.
Do not feel pressured to follow the rules and routines of others on social media. This is about setting your own goals, creating healthy habits that fit into your life, and making changes that will make you happy.

Remember, you are working to become the person YOU want to be, not who other people expect or want you to be.

How to start your Winter Arc

Establish Your Goals

Start by making a list of goals you want to achieve over the next few months. These can include anything from work and study to fitness and well-being.

To prevent feeling overwhelmed, start by creating a short list of 5 goals or habits you want to achieve first rather than a long list. Once you have established a routine or met a specific goal, you can slowly begin working towards other goals on your list.
It’s best to work through a few things at a time rather than everything all at once. Trying to accomplish everything will leave you feeling stressed, overwhelmed, and unmotivated.

Remember: Not every goal has to be career-focused. You can create small weekly personal goals such as; nurturing your physical or mental health, learning something new, adopting a new hobby, or implementing a healthy habit into your daily routine.

Create an Action List/ Board

We all love a vision board but instead of thinking about how you want your life to look, think about how you will make it happen. Spend time planning the steps you need to take to achieve your goals and make your dreams a reality.

Scheduling is so important to managing your time, preventing burnout, and caring for your mental well-being. Now that you know what you need to do, focus on how you are going to schedule your time and the boundaries you need to set so you can devote time to your goals and yourself without feeling distracted or overwhelmed.

Habit Tracking

This is a great way to keep track of your daily habits and goals. Ticking off completed daily habits like working out, morning skincare, taking your daily vitamins, or completing a task, allows you to see your progress and feel a sense of achievement when they are complete. To stay consistent and motivated on your journey, write down a daily to-do list or download a habit-tracking app on your phone.

“Show me your habits and I’ll show you your future.”

Create a Morning Routine

A good morning routine with positive habits can have a massive impact on the rest of your day. The most effective morning routines don’t take up too much time or have huge to-do lists but, they include simple steps that make you feel happy and ready to take on that day ahead. For example, no social media, drinking water in the morning, taking your vitamins, eating a healthy breakfast, journaling, doing your morning skincare, or listening to your favourite feel-good playlist. Practicing these habits is a beautiful way to start your day with intention and a positive outlook.

Create a Nighttime Routine

A relaxing nighttime routine is not only the best way to unwind at the end of the day but it’s important to securing a regular sleep routine. A nurturing routine that incorporates self-care will make you feel good in the evening and prepare you for the morning. Whether that’s a hot bath, reading, lighting candles, wearing your favourite pjs, playing ambient evening music, or a skincare routine and a cup of tea, do what fits into your life and makes you feel good before bed.

Start Journaling

Journaling consistently is a great way to clear your mind, keep track of your progress and prioritise your mental health. Spending so much time working on yourself and your goals can sometimes feel exhausting especially when you aren’t achieving immediate results and have so much to do. Writing down all your thoughts, practicing affirmations or daily gratitude is a healthy way to understand your emotions and reflect on your progress. In addition to this, you will feel a sense of pride as you notice your mindset change over time and your dream self becoming a reality.

Limit your Screen Time

Screen time is one of the biggest disrupters of progress. The amount of time spent staring at our phones instead of doing something positive or productive can be scary. Many of us spend hours a day doom scrolling social media which then causes us to feel worse than before we opened the apps. Instead of scrolling and watching everyone live their lives on social media, you should use that time to add to your own life and focus on something productive or an activity that will make you feel good.

Do not let life on social media stop you from making the best of your real life.

Include Daily Movement

With the cold weather taking over and seasonal depression creeping in, the last thing many people want to do is go out in the cold, go for a run, or even travel to the gym but including daily movement into your routine is so important for your physical and mental wellbeing. This doesn’t have to be a full daily workout or a morning in the gym but committing to some form of daily movement whether it’s yoga, daily stretching, or going for a walk, will positively impact your mental and physical health.

Keep Going!

There will be days when you just don’t feel motivated or you feel down and fed up (which is totally normal) but practicing self-discipline and consistency even on hard days is the key to your success.

You can do anything you set your mind to, you can become the woman you want to be if you stick to your habits, and stay focused on your goals. Your choices, routines, and daily behaviours can truly change your life. So, believe in yourself, stay strong, and remember that it's okay to fall off or have bad days as long as you get back up. Your winter arc is not about perfection or doing everything right the first time but it is about building self-discipline and showing up for yourself even when you don’t want to.

Everything is a choice and you have the power to choose.
So when you don’t know what to do or you feel unmotivated, ask yourself,
“What would the best version of me do"?” and then do it!
