How To Exit Your Lazy Girl Era

If you’ve found yourself lounging around, scrolling on social media, or binging your favorite shows instead of tackling your goals, it’s time to get back to work and exit your little lazy girl era.
Get out of this cycle of laziness, regain motivation, and embrace a more productive mindset.

Set clear goals

Get specific about your goals. Once you know exactly what you want, write down the steps you will take to achieve those goals. Do not overcomplicate everything - aiming for massive steps can seem unachievable or overwhelming, so break everything down into small manageable steps. Every time you hit a small goal, you will feel a proud sense of achievement, which is a huge confidence booster. This confidence will only turn into the motivation you need to keep going.

Establish a routine

Embrace your daily planner by jotting down your to-dos and creating a routine that works for you. Begin with a morning routine that includes a healthy breakfast along with some uplifting activities like journaling, reading, meditation, or a workout.  A well-organized routine will help you to stay on track, ensuring you know exactly what you need to do and when you need to do it. This approach leaves no room for distractions, like endless scrolling on your phone or procrastinating in deciding what to do - this way you can just do it.

Try the Pomodoro method

If you find yourself lost in a sea of distractions or constantly checking the time, then the Pomodoro Method might be just what you need. This method splits time into 20-minute work blocks followed by a 5-minute break. The thought of working for hours causes us to procrastinate or even give up before we’ve started, but this method makes studying for hours less daunting and much more manageable. Search for a timer on Google or YouTube ‘Pomodoro Timer’ and notice how much you can accomplish with a little structure in place.

Maintain a clean environment

Your environment shapes your success, so create or find a space that encourages you to work. When the space around you is an unorganized mess, you feel that way too which negatively affects productivity. So declutter your space, stick some motivational quotes on your desk, and create a space that motivates you to work.

Celebrate the small wins

Acknowledging your achievements, no matter how big or small is a powerful way to boost your confidence. Every milestone matters! Whether that’s achieving a good grade, handing in an assignment on time, sticking to a positive habit, or completing your to-do list - everything is a win. Take a moment to be proud of the progress you make towards achieving your goals. By celebrating yourself, you’ll find even the motivation to continue striving for success. Your efforts truly matter, so keep working hard and celebrating the small wins.

Don’t forget self-care

Self-care is essential to preventing burnout and falling back into our lazy girl mindset. Replace your screen time with positive self-care practices such as morning walks, enjoyable music, a fun morning routine, or a calming night routine that allows you to nurture your mind and body. Forget about what everyone else is doing online and look after your mental and physical well-being so you can bring your best self to everything you do.

Show Up

Remember that every time you neglect to take a step toward your happiness, you betray yourself and delay the dreams and goals that your future self deserves. Replace the “I can’t” with “I can and I will” and show up, get to work, and make it happen - you won’t regret it!
